Resident Evil 5, comprar ou alugar?
The visuals and co-op play are the only items that actually justify spending $60 on Resident Evil 5, other wise it seems a step back in a generation where Dead Space seems to have re-invented the concept of survival horror. Sure its going to sell a million copies in a short span of time, but we believe that this is certainly not one of the must haves of this year, it a title that is worth perhaps renting or buying at a later date, since this money can be easily spent on something the guys at Capcom call Street Fighter IV.

Killzone developer mentions co-op DLC
Yes, Killzone 2 is a great game. But you know what would make it even greater? Co-op. Those that play the single-player adventure soon realize that the computer AI partners aren't up to snuff -- a "human" squad-mate would be a much better ally in the fight against the Helghast ... or is it: the Helghast's fight against you ...
Producer Angie Smets talked about post-release DLC on the European PlayStation site. She notes that split-screen co-op had to be axed due to the overwhelming graphical demands of the game. However, the team at Guerrilla Games is looking into what they can do once the game is out to the public. "We're investigating [co-op] now for downloadable content," she says. "We're looking at what would be the nicest possible things for downloadable content. We've already started on maps ... we're not allowed to talk about anything else unfortunately!"
Additional maps for the multiplayer mode are a must, given today's necessity for multiplayer DLC. However, we're most hoping for some kind of co-op mode. Guerilla Games offered some game-changing updates to its PSP game, Killzone Liberation -- we're hopinng the team will be able to follow suit for Killzone 2.

Thank you, Microsoft, for degrading GTAIV
So I finally downloaded The Lost And Damned on the Xbox 360. While it is a fine game and a very good piece of downloadable content - it’s essentially the same game in almost every aspect. Except of course the improved bike physics (THANK GOD!)
Now here I was playing through the missions and drinking vodka. After about 6 shots and 10 way-too-linear story missions, I decided to pop in the good ol quest of Kolya (Niko=Nikolay=Kolya) Bellick.
And do you know what hit me at that point? (besides the vodka)
Microsoft, the damn fuck faces, are the reason why GTA IV initially looked like crap.
Now I’m not going to say “TEH XBOX 360 is weaker than PI ES THR33 that’s becuz gta iv kud luk bettr!!!”. No.
Think about it.
Whenever a game is exclusive, it’s developed only for that specific platform to which it is exclusive. Fact.
Whenever a game goes multiplat, a single engine is developed for both platforms, but initially is tested out on console A - which is the main console. Only very few developers (Infinity Wards is amongst them) have dedicated teams that develop engines alongside for each platform. Rockstar isn’t one of them as far as we know.
Ok, so now you might be thinking - but since the explosions in GTAIV look better on PS3, it’s probably the main platform?
Wrong.
The explosions look better on the PS3 because it has more processing power (I am not contradicting myself with the upper quote, this is different), yet the main engine was developed for the Xbox 360.
Why?
Using my flawless 6-shots of vodka logic, I pop in Nikolays adventures from GTAIV and see that the game looks identical to the first DLC pack (Lost and Damned).
What does this tell us?
Merely that that is AS GOOD as the game can look. They CANNOT MAKE IT LOOK BETTER.
Microsoft gave out $50 GOD DAMN MILLION KAPITALIST DOLLARS for this content. Don’t you think M$ would pursuade Rockstar to make the game look better?
The expansion packs are EXCLUSIVE to the Xbox 360. You don’t need another team to port and/or develop specifically for another console. Allocate all your resources to this expansion and make it look better.
Wait, what, you can’t?
Ah, that’s right. It’s just that your console is weaker and you cannot make it look better. Tusk tusk.
I’m not being a fanboy here (or am I?), but I am very disappointed with the $50 million deal. It wouldn’t make ANY sense if the PS3 was the main console developed for, thus the Xbox 360 was ported onto it and the game was initially developed within Xbox 360’s technical limitations.
Ask any game developer about the situation, as in where one console is going to have extra content added to it further on, and the other won’t get that content. Which console would be the “main” one in this situation? HMMMMM what a tough choice.
Because of the Xbox 360, we got a WEAKER product.
I could’ve said that Microsoft is to blame for the shit-like brown look of the game itself, but I’m not sure about that one. But fact is that if it was developed for the PS3 as the main console, the game could’ve been something more. A lot more.
Just GOD DAMN LOOK AT IT YOU KAPITALISTS, CANT YOU SEE IT?
Just GOD DAMN LOOK AT IT YOU KAPITALISTS, CANT YOU SEE IT?
If you damn kapitalists don’t see it, I might just have to make a drunk video to show it to you.

God of War III: The Extended Trailer
Here it is, your first extended look at God of War III for the PlayStation 3, a small portion of which you may have seen at the Spike TV Video Game Awards.
What that trailer didn't show off was ultimate pay-off at the end, a look at what Kratos is fighting on, one of the game's massive Titans. We think it gives a pretty solid sense of scope of the badassery, the brutal violence and epic battles planned for God of War III.
Make sure to check out our eyes-on impressions of God of War III gameplay in just a bit.

Capcom's Street Fighter IV was leaked online yesterday and as you might have expected, many folks are downloading it in advance of its street date. The release notes say it is region free and the package size is 69 x 100MB files.
Já agora:
* Classic “2D” Street Fighter gameplay with stunning 3D characters and environments
* New special moves that go beyond any Street Fighter fan’s wildest imagination, including Focus attacks, Super Combos, and the revenged-fueled Ultra Combo system.
* Classic Street Fighter characters recreated for a new generation of gamers, including the original cast of Street Fighter I
* New brawlers: female super-spy Crimson Viper, lucha libre wrestler El Fuerte, mixed martial artist Abel and more!

Dead Space Original Xbox1 Demo
The second video is more interesting. In 2006 before they had created the final game engine the team did a demo of the game using an engine for the original Xbox. This is the demo trailer with some commentary by Milham.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAHyOGtzxYg&eurl=http://porcast.blogspot.com/
You can't really say to many good things about the town of Middlesbrough without lying, however once a year the University of Teesside invites people from the games and animation industries to talk at the Animex, games and animation festival. This was my first year going and I got to see a whole lot of presentations, my favorite of which were done by Udon Comics (the people behind the art of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix) and Ian Milham of EA.
Milham was the Art Director on Dead Space and held a talk aptly named "Creating Horror and Immersion with the art of Dead Space". Milham covered a lot of ground during the hour or so presentation and I'll try to convey some of what I thought were the most interesting parts of it, including some captured video towards the end.
In a rather humorous video comparison Milham shows us two clips from the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre (not anything gory), although in the second one he tacked on a HUD, this of course illustrated the point of why the team decided to leave a conventional HUD out of the game keeping the player immersed. It was not always easy though as Milham explains, especially regarding player navigation as play testers were frequently getting lost around the ships myriad hallways. To compensate the team had to add several features, one of which were the bright signs which are displayed above the doorways throughout the game, this however Milham notes, proved to beneficial to the games visual appeal. Finally of course they added the optional path illumination, which was interestingly based on the path nodes created to guide the AI monsters and characters.
Quickly moving along as this piece is getting rather wordy, one of the game's more interesting points which I did not realize at the time but seems apparent once revealed is the Gothic inspiration. As Milham says they were not trying to build a «flying church» (I thought that was chuckle-worthy), though the games architecture has a lot of Gothic features such as prominent ribbing, especially on the main character.
Towards the end of the presentation Milham shows us a few different videos. The first which I found particularly entertaining was an early dismemberment test they did. Note it's worth listening to Milham's comments as it plays.

Solution for Killzone 2 controller lag
PS3Hype writes: 'The Killzone 2 demo was not very well received by everyone. This is because a leak would be between actions in the game and the movements you make with the controller. However, a member of PS3Hype.nl, XgamerX comes with a solution'.
According XgamerX this is the solution:
Adjust the sensitivity of the Y and the X-axis otherwise. Do this via the menu, click Options, and go to control. Here you can find the X and Y axis set.
X as moet op 70% (of 80% wat je zelf beter vindt) X axis should be 70% (or 80% what you do better)
Y as moet op 100% (of 90% als je het te gevoelig vindt) Y axis must be 100% (or 90% if you find too sensitive)
You can be the sensitivity with 10% increase or decrease)
This is the 'leak' of your controller less! I also tested, and indeed it works much better candidate. It is also smart to control settings on Alternative 2 to continue. This ensures that the same controls as in Call of Duty 4. Furthermore, it is smart to zoom check box. As you have the button (like in CoD4) wants to hold you zoom with your weapon.

História do Street Fighter

Treyarch and Activision announced today that Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 1 will be released this March on all platforms. Maps will include "Nightfire," which takes place in the war-revenged streets of Berlin. "Knee Deep" takes players to the jungles of Japan to attack fortified positions, and players will fight inside a bombed out subway system in "Station."
Lastly, the four-player co-op Nazi Zombie bonus mode will be expanded with "Verruckt" (Zombie Asylum), a map that features new weaopns, new Perks-a-Cola machines, electroshock defenses and an endless legion of the undead. The screenshot above provides some first looks at the map pack.
Agora você já curtiu Call of Duty World at War, Gears of War 2, Dead Space, Left 4 Dead, e vem aquela dúvida… quais serão os jogos bons do Xbox 360 para 2009?
Lord of the Rings: Conquest
Ghostbusters: The Video Game
I Am Alive
I Am Alive
Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell - Conviction
Splinter Cell Conviction
Agora, a dinâmica do jogo muda completamente.

Some would have you believe that Killzone has no fans, just fanboys, mobilised by Sony’s promise of a technological blitzkrieg. That’s not entirely fair.
The first game, released in 2004, created a cult of sorts that a smart PSP spin-off, Killzone Liberation, galvanised in lieu of a proper sequel. The most physical game of its kind, it was a shooter made of metal while others dealt in plastic. Now the sequel’s here, though, it’s those genuine fans who will suffer it the most.
Because if Dead Space shows just what can be gained when you approach the familiar with a mind to making changes, Killzone 2 shows just what can happen when you don’t.
It opens as four years of marketing have led us to suspect – with thunder and lightning. From ISA carriers that point like daggers towards Helghan, home of man’s forsaken children the Helghast, leather-faced marines cling to fragile dropships as they swoop through the clouds. Orders are yelled and banter exchanged, until seconds later a stupendous blast rips up from the clouds below, filling the sky with wreckage.
Those that survive, among them Sgt Tomas ‘Sev’ Sevchenko (you) and his loyal squad, are greeted by further blasts of technical wizardry on the beach below. Then some more, and then some more.
Helghan is quite the cesspit, so awash with toxic particles you’d think someone made a snowdome from an ashtray. The Helghast, invisible behind their anime-Nazi armour, are products of the most advanced performance capture and procedural technology in gaming – and it shows.
With each wave they give a masterclass in squad-based tactical warfare, suppressing, flanking, f-ing and blinding with nary a breath in between. Your only choice is to hug the nearest surface (with L2), lean out (with the right stick) and snipe (R2) until your cover’s blown, be it by a new line of sight, a mischievous grenade or the ballsy athlete who spikes you with his blade.
mart and nimble, the Helghast like nothing more than someone foolish enough to hide. This intimate, sizzling combat feels a lot like that of FEAR, but is actually more like another game of the time: Criterion’s Black.
It shares that laudable desire to see you through a level without fuss, hindered only by the constant fear of a fatal mistake. A gun game in the truest sense, its bullets and ragdolls offer a literal take on the ‘theatre’ of war, a rare pleasure since GoldenEye.
And it gets extraordinary mileage from piling lots of bodies into simple spaces, letting cutting-edge AI do the rest. A quasi-tactical shooter, its action rivals any in Stalker or COD4.
But without the first game’s ambiguities, a sense of humour or even an ounce of intrigue, its story stinks. It’s so slight you could play the levels in random order to little ill-effect, and it assumes knowledge of everything and everyone, not once recognising the real-world echoes of its premise: an allied invasion of an enemy the allies themselves created. Instead, it settles for the opening act of Starship Troopers via Aliens and Saving Private Ryan, as if they were somehow fresher than Long John Silver’s toenails.
The fraught team dynamic is gone, as is Killzone’s neat trick of having a Helghast operative fighting by your side. The dialogue is functional, the motives obvious. And too much time is given to Rico Velasquez, the ISA’s version of the Cole Train. He’s rotten company, so foul-mouthed that you’ll wonder when gaming will overcome its latest obsession.
His squadmates, to their credit, hold him in equally low regard, his courage vastly outweighing his commonsense. But still, he’s infinitely harder on the ears than the Helghast, who aren’t exactly choirboys themselves. One day, technology like this will produce a performance worthy of an Oscar, maybe even Jean-Claude Van Damme. But not today.
Worst of all, Killzone 2 doesn’t just default to the genre’s worst impulses some of the time; it does so whenever the fateful question’s asked: “What now, Sarge?” Answers include: get on that turret, marine; grab that bazooka and take out that tank; man that mech; watch out for those sentry bots; and rendezvous with Alpha Team and secure that LZ.
Sentry bots? You must be joking. If you can’t think for yourself after so many millions of dollars have been spent, surely it’s common courtesy to make your clichés interesting. Not here, it seems, where half the chapters feel like multiplayer maps full of bots and random waypoints.
In fact, few story-driven games have been so much more dramatic in multiplayer. Freed of its narrative shackles, Killzone 2’s deathmatches openly celebrate the tight controls (jumping now included), hand-made environments and technical beauty of a game that is, almost exclusively, about popping someone in the face or blowing them to kingdom come.
Separate development of the multiplayer modes has paid dividends, the badge and perks systems adding distinctive RPG flavour to a uniquely hardcore team-based experience.
First impressions might be that everyone’s dying all of the time, but perseverance pays off. Thanks largely to its online play, Killzone 2 should find itself a fanbase no one can overlook. In singleplayer, it’s a testament to craft and imagination, if only because one is so immaculate while the other barely exists. It fights a great battle, it’s just a shame about the war.
7/10
Killzone Phobia
I have a problem. They say the first step is admitting it.
I’ve been looking forward to Killzone 2 for months now, my excitement has been building and I’m almost ready to burst.
So now the demo has landed, I’ve downloaded it, installed it, I even started it up and looked at the first few screens of gamma setup and difficulty selection. This brings me to my problem: I can’t bring myself to play it.
I’ve tried. Twice since my first go at playing it I have returned to the icon on my XMB and lingered over it like an indecisive child in a sweet shop.
You might think this is stupid, irrational and pathetic. You’d be right. I totally understand that it is only a game and even if it isn’t very good there will be another one along soon enough to take my mind off things. I even know that it is getting great reviews and is much loved by a few people who’s opinion I trust who have had a copy for review purposes or were in on the Beta. It doesn’t help.
The problem is, I’m scared. I have never been this excited about a game before in my whole life as a gamer. What if it lets me down? What if it’s good, great even but it just doesn’t live up to my personal expectations? I will be crushed.
Don’t worry, loyal readers, I will force myself to play this demo even if it means the destruction of my faith in gaming.
